Isle of Coll

Coll is the hidden gem of the Hebrides, located 6 miles west of the Island of Mull. What the island lacks in size it makes up for in beauty with over 30 beaches to explore. A hub of wildlife, seafood and untouched landscapes - Coll is the perfect destination for friends and family alike!

What to do?

Coll’s quiet roads make it the perfect location for cycling and walking (just watch out for the sheep). Explore the coastline and beaches whilst soaking in stunning views of the Atlantic, Gunna Sound and the Treshnish Isles.

Pay the corncrakes a visit at the RSPB Nature Reserve or explore the flora and fauna of Coll’s beaches, meadows and moors. The waters around Coll are also home to Basking sharks throughout the summer months and they can often be spotted from the shore. There are several companies which offer sea tours for those who want a chance at a closer look!

With no street lights and its geographic isolation, Coll is one of the best places in the UK for star gazing. This island is one of only 2 places in the UK with Dark Sky Status.

Not only is there plenty to explore outside, there is also plenty to do inside - like visit the pub! The Coll Hotel offers some of the best freshly cooked seafood on the west coast with a huge selection of local ales and whisky. Enjoy an afternoon in the beer garden or huddled around the lounge bar fire.

There is also a well stocked village shop so don’t worry about filling your picnic basket!
